We love picnics! If you do too, you’ll love this post. We’ve detailed some of the most scenic, peaceful spots in and around Newquay which are ideal for picnics.

Polly Joke (Porth Joke) Beach
Only accessible via a scenic walk through Crantock or Cubert, Polly Joke Beach and its surrounding headlands are the ideal picnic spot. At certain times of year, the fields above the beach are full of poppies!

Towan Headland
Situated between Newquay Town Centre and Fistral, Towan Headland is a lovely picnic spot which is easily accessible and offers great views over Fistral and Little Fistral to the West, and Newquay Bay to the East.

The Gannel Estuary
At low tide, you can walk the Gannel Estuary down to Crantock beach, and stop off for a picnic on the way. A small woodland area sits on the bank of the estuary by Penpol Creek.

Porth Reservoir
This scenic spot is just a few miles out of Newquay and is surrounded by lush woodland. It’s the perfect place for a picnic, walk, or a spot of fishing.

Holywell Bay
Holywell Bay is on the outskirts of Newquay, and its golden sandy beach, tall sand dunes and surrounding headlands are perfect for picnics with a view.

Pentire Headland
Nestled between Crantock and Fistral, Pentire Headland offers fantastic views across the sea, Crantock Beach, the Gannel Estuary and Fistral. If you’re lucky, you could even spot a bird of prey.

Porth to Watergate Coast Path
Take a stroll from Porth to Watergate Bay along the coastal path and stop for a picnic en-route. There’s lovely views across the bay.
